I also have a theory regarding the walls and the first people in it: I'm not entirely sure how the titans were created BUT if it's true that humans were at war against them, then perhaps a group of them with the Coordinate powers fled on ships to an island (this appears at the back of the first episode iirc). When the titans attacked, his second life was destroyed which led him to do the things he did to the Reiss family (let's remember he had some ties to people in Wall Sina so he was most likely aware of the situation) because he too wanted to know why didn't the people with the Coordinate powers stop the titans. He had a much more advanced konwledge of medicine so he helped a lot (even cured a sickness that was affecting everyone). Remember that war painting during the anime's second ending?) and he ended stumbling upon the walls, deciding rebuild his life. Something to note: Who could the people in the picture be? If it was him, then perhaps he had a family (could that be Zeke in the picture as a baby?), something happened (A war perhaps. This means that something must have happened outside the walls so not everything Griesha wrote mustve been true (regarding the commodities). I do have one big question that bothers me and a possible answer to it: How can Griesha say life is luxurious if the first time he met Keith he asked if there wasn't any wars inside? He was all messed up and was by that time a titan shifter already.
